This size is economical and functional and seems to fit most other small homes. The container is also perfect for lunch salads (dressings are packed separately). It will also securely hold a large bag (a pound or more) of unwrapped candy, open bags of rice, peas, etc - food that needs to be sealed. The service life is impressive, some containers have survived more than a year of regular use. And while the lids and jars snap together individually for compact storage, airtight jars don't stack as securely - they move from side to side. . This problem alone does not preclude general utility and modest cost. Prices vary but at the time I bought them here the cost was lower than local stores.
