Good mount at a good price

MagSafe is a new technology for the iPhone and with it high prices for accessories. I didn't want to pay such high prices, so I decided to look for cheaper alternatives. When I found this mount I was skeptical at first as there weren't that many reviews (that's why I'm here) so I gave it a go. Overall I think this is a great mount and good value for the money. I put my iPhone 12 Pro on the connector first (no case) to see if the magnets work. They do. Very good. It took a few strong, intentional shakes to drop the phone, which bodes well for the bumps you'll encounter in the car. As we raise the ceiling, we hit our first snag. My wife and I have Otter Box Symmetry cases designed for MagSafe so you would think they would work well with the mount. My phone's case is matte, solid color and grips just as firmly as a bare phone. However, my wife did not hold back at all. I felt the pull of a magnet, but the back of their case has a glossy marble design, and when the mount was on the dashboard, the phone kept slipping off. So the moral of the story; Be careful what case you have, it can affect the stickiness of the magnets. (Although I've read that this applies to many MagSafe accessories). As for sticking to the dash, there are two options in the box. The first is a simple vent clip. I've seen this vary from car to car; The vents in my cars are looser than others and the vents don't hold the phone at the right angle. It's not the mount's fault, just pay attention to your own ventilation situation. The other option I used is the suction cup. I mounted it upside down on the windshield and was able to tilt it just right. The suction and stickiness of the adhesive keeps the mount stable. One more note; To switch between the two mounting options you have to work with a ball and socket, which is VERY difficult to install, I was afraid it would break. Overall I'm happy with this find, it's more economical than other MagSafe options and works really well!
