I have no problem with alcohol or the decorative part of the containers it contains to burn a glass of alcohol, but glass is not suitable for this. I say that because it turns black after liquor is lit for a short time. I lived in a small house where the only heat came from a wood stove with a window in the door and if I couldn't see through the glass when the wood was running out I would open and close the door just to check . What I'm saying is that the glass in this wood burning stove has remained fire free throughout the interior, so I know there is glass that can withstand the flames and what is in this set cannot. If you can live without glass covers, take them off because they don't do anything for the looks or the obvious security.
