Review on Ultimate Armor Flex Pet Door: The Best Air Tight Solution for Any Door or Wall by Ashley Gomez

Stronger than other pet doors

When I first took this door out of the box I was really impressed with its construction - it is much stronger than the less expensive plastic frame doors I have installed in other homes. It costs more than these doors, but it's worth the extra cost to me. The frame is metal and reinforced at the corners with 90* staples. First the outer frame is inserted into the cut-out, screwed and then the inner frame with the "door" is inserted. The advantage of having two separate frames is that the screw holes are offset, so there really aren't any. Problems with the alignment of the inside and outside of the door. The interior security door, like the rest of the door, is more durable than others I've installed. It's thicker and snaps into place fairly securely. A real "door" is NOT "tight" - not that I really expected it to be - but it's about 3/8 inch thick and makes a reasonably good seal in my opinion. It settles into position fairly quickly, although I wish it were faster. A few other things. I used a jigsaw to cut a hole in a solid wood door with raised panels while the door was still in place. Due to the thickness of the door and gravity issues when cutting, the blade flexed a little and my cuts were far from perfect - I had to go back and adjust the hole in a few places. A jigsaw or even a circular saw would be better. This made my hole sloppy rather than perfect. Product 3. The door panel is slightly heavier than the clear plastic film. on other doors I had. This can deter some pets.
