Review on Nesco Food and Jerky Dehydrator, White, 15.25 x 10.25 x 15.63 inches by Jessica Kennedy

I bought this dehydrator two months ago and cook beef jerky in it almost every week. This is my first dehydrator and I love it! I used to cook jerky in the MES 30 smoker, but that was too complicated for me. Also, I had to go outside to check it, even in bad weather. It's easy to set up and clean. Temperature settings are fictitious. I cook jerky (1/4 inch) in about 5 hours. It is really quiet. TV and everything else in the house drowns it out. Yesterday I wanted to cook jerky, but the fan won't turn on. It heats up but there is no fan. I emailed Nesco and they responded within 15 minutes. You send me the head. That's customer service! Just a few things when buying a new FD-80A. Make sure you wash the trays in warm, soapy water and let dry. Then wash them again. Set up the dehydrator without food and let it run for a few hours. Wash the trays again. This will eliminate the plastic smell. Second, you can use plastic craft canvas. Darice (found on Joanne) is food safe. This is much cheaper than buying Nesco branded liners.
