We have an invisible fence for our dogs around our 11 acre property. The loop detector showed a broken wire, so I bought it to track the break. The perimeter of the property is about 2000 feet so I figured this would be the ticket to finding where the gap is. Good news: I found a way. The bad news: The distance at which this gives a clear signal is about 700 feet. After that, the signal becomes too weak to be detected. I was able to find the original wire connections and dig them up to attach the transmitter. This allowed me to continue tracking until a break was found. For most properties this will probably work fine. For larger properties, you cannot attach to the source and track the entire length.
