Not quite right: Diet and Sports Nutrition

I have been using Carnathine L-Tartrate for many years. I reviewed two containers of Carnitine l Tartrate Unflavored Nutricost before purchasing this last one. Upon arrival, the packaging was undamaged and looked normal, so I don't think there was a problem with the delivery. However, when I opened the carnitine tartrate tin, it smelled particularly fishy, although this time the carnitine tartrate often smelled a bit rancid, it was significantly stronger than the last tin I got. It was the first sign that something was wrong. After sniffing it as usual, I took the scoop and dropped the full scoop into my mouth with nothing. It was really wrong here. Carnitine tartrate was supposed to be EXTREMELY acidic, but this carnitine tartrate was only slightly acidic and amazingly sweet. This may seem like a positive, but to me it tells me that this particular batch that I received must be in something else. I've never had carnitine L tartrate with this flavor so I don't know what to make of it. I can't say anything about the effectiveness of the product. I've been taking this supplement for 3 years and I really don't know if it's doing anything at all. There is evidence that it can increase androgen receptors in the upper body, but it's quite difficult to assess, especially if you're taking many other supplements that can increase androgenic activity. I don't know what they changed in this batch but it tastes like no carnitine tartrate I've ever tried and the croquette size in this batch is a lot smaller too.

Pros
  • GMP manufactured and FDA registered facility
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
