I have a CamelBak that I have used for years but it is too heavy. I bought this and used it on 2 day hikes and it's perfect. Decent weight and enough storage space. My only negative is the bladder. Difficult to clean so I use another bladder I have and you can disconnect the water line from the main bladder for cleaning. I wish CamelBak would use this type of bubble. All in all a great backpack and a strap is fine, you don't need the one at the waist.
