The heater did not turn off when the heat button was pressed

So it was new out of the box and I installed and plugged it in. I turned on the heat knob and set it on. to the lowest level and tested it with my thermometer. 135F but varies between 123F and 135F when the grip is stationary. Then I went halfway between maximum and minimum, that is, almost all the way to the right, and got 225-235 F. I loved the smell coming off the panels at that temperature. It's definitely chemical gas poisoning. I scrolled to the max to see how hot it is. When it hit 300 FI I smelled a very strong chemical odor and then started seeing white smoke. Afraid that something might overheat, I decided to stop the test. I turned the handle off and heard a click and the red LED went out. I then gave 30 minutes to let it cool down and then inspected the car again. When I came back and put my hand on the top to pick it up, I heard a loud hiss. My thumb was burned like a steak on a plate. I grabbed my heat gun and read 483 F. First Degree Burn on my thumb. I check the button again to make sure it's off, toggle it on and off again. I check the temp again and it's still 483 F. Then I flip the switch on the side to a circle, which should indicate an open circuit. No, it's still at 483 F. The only way to turn it off is to unplug it. The device I received is faulty straight from the manufacturer and extremely dangerous. Thank goodness I came back to check it out otherwise my house would have burned to the ground as it would certainly be burning within an hour.
