Over the decades I have used different types of shelf liners. I have often used the Gorilla brand and the like, and this style of plastic foam bead weaving was cheap; cheap quality first of course. But readily available when your shelves need covering. This Drymate Premium shelf and drawer liner is really good. It's stronger, more manageable than foam fabric, easy to clean (unlike foam), and can be cut to precise measurements for a precise fit. That's all you want to see on the shelf. It comes in black, which looks like charcoal due to its fibrous finish. It is neutral and goes well with any decor. I think I would have preferred white for more brightness in the case, but dark gray looks good. After cutting mine to the exact dimensions (within 1/16 to 1/32 inch accuracy) I wiped them down with an alcohol based sanitizer. Wipe it down, place it on a shelf (pre-cleaned of course) and it's part of the shelf, no offset (like styrofoam fabric), just a flat, strong, textured surface that can be easily wiped clean at any time. without difficulty. It smells like "material" at first, which is to be expected. It's a rubber/plastic smell that goes away a little after wiping with alcohol and then fades quickly so you won't notice it the first time you use it. do not change. Luckily I did this from the start and all the parts fit perfectly. This is the best shelf insert I've ever had.
