We used this on our van. We only have side rails so we added our own mounts. I'm not sure I wouldn't have dared to do it without him. At the same time we drove halfway across the country and back (4 days one way) without incident. Often the speed was in the 80-90 mph range. Crosswinds and mountain traffic required a little more control, but that was simply due to the extra height of the van. We survived a downpour where the van drove in the rain and also stood in the rain. The pillow where the two zippers met was slightly damp. Otherwise everything stayed dry. We were able to fit 8 camp chairs, a full size fridge, 8 pillows, 10 towels, a queen blanket and lots of little random things we don't need in the car. We've packed to fit things we don't need on the go in this bag, so I don't know how it will stand up to the frequent loading and unloading.
