Review on Malone WideTrak Large Kayak Canoe by Ricardo Anderson

This car is a beast!

The Malone WideTrak ATB Large Kayak Cart is just what you need. I wanted a cart strong and wide enough to carry my Hobie Outback, yet versatile enough to use with my Dagger Alchemy touring kayaks. I adjusted the bunks to their widest position and they fitted the Outback's body perfectly. The same attitude conveniently soothes my alchemy. The car is very well made. The big semi-cushioned tires should allow me to cover most of the terrain and I'm not worried about the cart holding the weight. It comes with a pair of very strong buckle straps. I've (cautiously) transported kayaks without straps on flat terrain, but they'll come in handy on hills or rough terrain. I prefer them to Thule straps for attaching the Outback to my trailer. On the other hand, this is not a compact car that can be easily folded and stowed in the trunk. It weighs about 15 pounds and is quite large. You might be able to tie it to the back deck, but then again, it's a beast. Do your homework first if you want to keep it on your boat while fishing. I've been debating whether to make a do-it-yourself trolley out of PVC. By the time I bought all the hardware I would have spent at least $40-$50 and it would probably fail in a year or two. For not much more money I have a car that lasts at least ten years.

Pros

Cons
