Review on πŸ”‘ Dorman 99157 Keyless Entry Remote: 5 Button for Buick/Chevrolet Models (OE FIX) - Ultimate Convenience and Compatibility by Kyle Miller

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Limited use for keyless entry systems

This review is going to be long but worth reading. While I'm pleased with the product's ability to program your new or existing key fob, I don't feel like everything was handled on the seller's end. Once you have connected the programming tool to the OBD port, you have 2 minutes to program ALL your remote controls that you wish to use with your vehicle. The instructions said "You must have at least one working key fob for your car", which is not true at all. In fact, the only working key fob I had before programming with the Dorman tool now doesn't work at all. So in theory you should be able to flash your existing key fob within a 2 minute window. So if you have 2 keys that you want to program using the tool, you will also need to program the start fob, resulting in you needing to program 3 keys when using this tool.2. The programming tool is limited to only 3 sessions. So if you are planning to use this tool in your free time or whenever you need to change the key fob, you will be out of luck after plugging in this device and using the programming function after 3 times. Although I haven't tested this theory, it is in the manual that came with the product. That being said, I gave the product a 3 because it ended up doing the job I wanted, but that would have been nice. If the instructions had noted that you should also reprogram your original key fob, I wouldn't consider using my second session to have 3 working remote control fobs.
