Poor Heat Transfer in Coffee, Tea, and Espresso

1. Poor heat transfer causes water to boil and slowly rise, leaving most of the coffee there and simmering while you wait for it to finish. This guy took a few minutes to cook as much as an old, traditionally designed moka kettle took in 10 seconds. This digests the taste of the coffee. Slightly bitter and sour. I did a blind test with my wife (with the same reasoning); she could taste the richness of flavor in the old pot of mok; the new one was simply overcooked in taste. Yes I used preheated water and yes I removed both from heat as soon as they started to splash (although the new one didn't splash as much as it started to drain) and ran under cold water James Hoffman style .2 . The purpose of using glass is aesthetics. Otherwise why bother (rather break etc.)? Unfortunately, being shorter than the original, I have to bend down to see the spout. In addition, the glass fogs up easily. So at this point I'm either hunched over or have to open the lid to see - and once you open the lid, the aesthetic benefits vanish. Also, it pours a lot slower (as mentioned) so it doesn't look as cool as the old style. I would say that this is a small advantage for the Moka.3 pot. The handle heats up much faster.4. The spout is less accurate than the old one. All in all, I'd say it's a failure. I may have encountered a bad sample with some minor issues (material, gasket, thickness, or channel?) making the heat transfer problem and fill rate worse, but that at least tells you something about quality control, if not overall. Sorry, I wanted this one to work and look better than my old pot.
