Time-consuming activation

Well it took three days and four attempts to activate this wi-fi extender (2, not counting Thanksgiving. There were no instructions in the box; had to go to the TP website to download them. The Instructions are not compatible with current router. After 3 unsuccessful attempts I went to chat myself. Thirty minutes later access was granted. Final thought - I bought a "certified refurbished" model but Revains said "order verification". , the product is ". Just a little confused.

Refurbished TP-Link device works like new

This is my second extension cord (refurbished first) and like other TP-Link devices it works great. So far there hasn't been a difference between a new example and a refurbished one - apart from the cost๐Ÿ˜ I live in a one story house and an extension cord on each end results in a very strong signal throughout the house. The WPA security gives me a little more confidence that the imaginary child next door isn't spying on the system too often.

  • Easy to read control panel

  • Neutral

.install could be easier.

. The initial installation was a problem. At first I thought it was working fine, but then it drops the connection and reboots every 30 seconds. I'm a decent 'techie' and have tried several times to reconfigure using the 'Quick Setup Guide' which had 2 'Quick and Easy' versions. I've tried both without success. I was about to repack and return when I decided to investigate the 2.4GHz vs 5GHz issue as only the 5GHz light was on. I went into our new modem/router setup and found that I had to turn

Confusing settings.

I just received it today. I spent 30 minutes setting this up. It just doesn't detect any signal from my router. Because of this I used an ethernet cable to set it up, but when I moved the extension cord there was no connection. If you are buying this to use as an extension cord and not using a computer I would stay away from this unit. I'll contact support on Monday and see how far we get. I've followed all the instructions and I have to say I've never endured a product that asked me for aโ€ฆ

Create your own mesh network!

I have 3 of these devices installed at home and I really need to add one more. This particular unit was my third and I bought this refurbished unit because it was $20 cheaper and I had good luck with it. refurbished products. I will be buying a fourth unit for our guest rooms and buying another renovated if possible. Our home is built with 6" foil-covered Styrofoam wall panels inside and out. from the TP-Link Archer AC1750 Smart WiFi line - a dual-band gigabit router that's hard to come by. Iโ€ฆ

Used as a bridge for other computers connected to the local network.

. I use it to connect two wired gigabit LANs over a pure 5 GHz WLAN band. I disabled extended WiFi so this is just a WiFi bridge to my main TP-Link Archer C1200 router. My main router is about 30 feet away across 3 or 4 walls in a straight line and the signal quality status shows my connection as 'Strong'. My ping to the RE450 over WiFi is between 1ms and 3ms. My Archer C1200 can send around 500Mbps to the RE450 and the RE450 can send around 300Mbps to my router. You can see in the firstโ€ฆ

The extender must not be set as a default DHCP gateway!

This product is complete garbage. Please do yourself a favor and heed my warning. I used my iMac running macOS Catalina to connect and set up the expander. A Wi-Fi connection was used because the built-in gigabit port on the expander was not yet activated. I'm NOT a fool and I know how to set up computer networks. I was able to connect the extender to 2.4GHz and 5GHz bandwidth from my router, but I couldn't access the internet on any device when I reconnected to my router through the extenderโ€ฆ
