I bought this letter box instead of the more expensive model I was looking at here. This mailbox is big enough for magazines and small packages, but sticks out of the wall just like my old rusty shop model. The metal isn't very thick, but it looks strong enough. I used one of the existing screw holes from my old box and drilled another hole with the template provided (nice touch). The finish is orange peel so sticking numbers can be a problem. I like that it doesn't show fingerprints. The nice thing is that the hinge is closed and doesn't scratch the wall like my old one did when you lift the lid. I added a rubber gasket under the cap to reduce the noise. when it hits. Other than that, it looks and works great. I have mine under a shed but I can see how it keeps the mail dry when not. One thing to mention is that there is a small 1/8 inch diameter hole drilled in the left side of the lid. I don't know why it's there - maybe for a flag? In any case, I'm happy and will remain so if it doesn't rust like my old one did. If so, I'll get back to you.
