Review on 1TB Transcend StoreJet M3: Military Drop Tested USB 3.0 External Hard Drive by Brandon Barrett

Two of those drives failed consecutively in less than two months!

I can't believe how reliable this hard drive is. I do some freelance engineering work and bought this drive specifically for its durability - at least that's what he claims. I had it for about two months before it got the death click. Please note that this drive has been used very, very little and has never left my office. "Okay, I'm fine," I thought. "Hard drives follow a Gaussian failure curve and I happened to get one that was supposed to fail early." I contacted Transcend and got an RMA with no problems. My new drive arrived in a few weeks and worked great. about two months. I noticed last week that when copying to disk if I looked at the copy speed it was running at around 120Mbps and then every few seconds as the disk clicked the copy speed dropped to 0Mbps. and then resurrected. Rinse and repeat. I used the Crystal Disk Info software to see how heavily this drive has been used so far. 87 "Downloads" (number of connections to the computer) with a total active usage time of 184 hours. Ridiculous! I have drives on my main machine that last 30,000 hours! I proceeded to destroy the drive to ensure the drive was free of my customer's data and contacted the seller again for an RMA. They emailed me shipping information. but after a day of deliberation I decided not to send an RMA and just return Revain. I don't want any more of these discs. Now I will take my money to another seller.
