Years ago I bought another Black and Decker hand sander to finish small items and do some home renovation work. It worked like a champ (I still have it), but this little grinder is better in almost every way (again, for smaller projects). in a well-ventilated area) and probably the best part is the "finger" mount on the front for making tight corners and really small spaces. I used it to clean an MCM mirror with lots of thin angles and this thing was a champ. My only issue (as some others have pointed out) is that you have to buy proprietary sandpaper for this. Otherwise it's a solid little grinder and if it lasts as long as the other one I have then it's worth it.
