I have one of these new M1 Macs and was a bit skeptical that it wouldn't work because the firmware was only updated after Catalina. When I first got the drive I plugged it into my old MacBook Pro (13" Mid 2012) running Windows 10 Pro and it was very noisy so I couldn't sleep while it was running. Today I tried connecting it to my new MacBook Pro (13" M1 2020) and not only does it work, it's much quieter than my old MacBook Pro. It's definitely worth the investment as it can read even scratched and smudged discs and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a Blu-ray optical drive for their Mac or just a drive that will run quietly for a lifetime. Night.
