Potential FIRE risk

This has been plugged in since I bought it, we run it under our sofa so we can charge our phones in an awkwardly located outlet and store it away when not in use. I noticed it got quite warm and warned my wife not to leave it unattended with anything plugged into it. Today I noticed that the case is very hot and starting to turn black, obviously I'm getting rid of it at this point as I believe it poses a fire hazard. I have never had such a failure with such a device
