I purchased the 70mm/2.75 inch PTFE Magnetic Stir Bar with a smooth ridge for my laboratory experiments. The product arrived promptly and was in good condition. The first thing I noticed was its smooth surface and the solid build. The magnetic strength of the bar is impressive and it handles larger volumes of solutions with ease. It creates adequate turbulence suitable for homogenizing the mixture. The smooth ridge around the shaft provides resistance to slipping off the stirrer, preventing spillage. However, the stir bar tends to wobble at higher speeds, creating a disturbance and making the experimental data difficult. Moreover, I noticed cracks in the PTFE material after only a few uses. These cracks allow for leakage of the reaction mixture which can be hazardous to both the product and the person handling it. In conclusion, the 70mm PTFE Magnetic Stir Bar is an average quality product, and its durability could be improved. Overall, it does its job well, but with some drawbacks. If you are looking for a long-lasting and sturdy stir bar, you might want to consider other options.
