I used it to evacuate air from an air conditioner installed in my car that was not equipped with factory air. I turned on the pump for about 45 minutes and my gauge read a vacuum of 21 inches of mercury, which wasn't as low as I was hoping. The best vacuum I could get was 25 inches of mercury. The vacuum in my air conditioner stayed stable for several days, so I decided it was leak free and that it was safe to charge it with R134a refrigerant. Before charging the system with refrigerant I ran this pump for about 30 more minutes and was pleased to see the vacuum in the system drop to 23-24 inches Hg. System). I'm glad I bought this pump and manifold and did it myself. I suspect an AC shop would have taken about half what I paid for this FJC 6766P pump and distributor. So my net worth was pretty low and if I use it again I will break even and have the tools. One thing to keep a close eye on is the pump oil level sight glass. Mine used quite a bit of oil in less than 90 minutes of operation. You don't want the level to get too low!
