I used to spend an hour peeling 4-5 heads of garlic with a paring knife. Time is reduced by at least 30% and effort (eye, arm, neck and back fatigue) by at least 80%. You'll still need to break the onion into cloves, but simply sticking a clove in the pod and rolling it out to separate the skin is no hassle and very little effort to remove the remaining skin. Cleaning is easy and the silicone case should last forever as there is very little stress on it during the cleaning process. I have not used a steel breaker and probably never will. I chop, mince or crush the garlic with a knife.
