I've used them on several projects with excellent results. I fixed the blade with a 2" crack and the weld is holding up. I've also welded copper to steel with positive results. A few notes: Clean the surfaces with alcohol or acetone. If there is rust, you need to remove it from where you plan to weld. I have used acetylene piping and have not tried MAPP gas. In this case you will need to heat the surface to red hot, which will take some time so be patient. When you place the bar on the surface to be welded it should form a bead or puddle almost immediately, if not then your piece is not hot enough, heat it up and try again. Finally, after the welding is complete, if you have an angle grinder, use it to clean up the weld. It's mainly for a cleaner look. I'm not a pro yet, that's just my experience.
