, Kohler and Stens, in their boundless wisdom, switched contractors to build their oil filter. They sell a yellow colored filter with an "Eco" design from Champion Laboratories. A good quality oil filter has a metal interior with holes that allow oil to flow through. This metal cylinder carries the paper filter element. The "eco" design uses a plastic mesh with large holes. This will not fully support the filter and parts of the filter element can get into the engine. This, of course, leads to blockages, which lead to engine damage. If you need a quality oil filter for your Kohler engine, use Purolator L10241 (or PL10241) or Wix 51348 instead. Champion Laboratores' "Eco" design is probably inferior to the Fram oil filter. If it were possible, I would give zero stars to the currently sold "eco" filter.
