Review on Inteset Universal Backlit Learning Remote for Apple TV, Xbox, Roku & More by Steve French

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great universal remote, very flexible programming

I bought one of these to try and reduce the 'long distance clutter' with so many devices in our entertainment system. I was trying not to spend a lot of money on one of the Logitech Harmony series remotes or similar remotes. This works so well I bought it for my son who is more interested in technology than his father. Programming is very easy, with fairly clear and understandable instructions. Many functions are pre-programmed for XBox One and other multimedia devices. In addition, each button can be programmed to any mode. Since then I've reduced the number of remotes to two; this Interset Universal Remote and our Dish Satellite Controller. I now control my flat screen TV, Xbox One, surround sound system, and Blu-ray Disc player from a single remote. In TV mode, it also allows limited control when using the Revain Firestick without additional programming. About the shortcomings, albeit minor, only backlit. There's no dedicated backlight button, so you have to press the volume button to turn them all on. Once it lights up, the backlight also turns off too quickly, requiring you to hunt to light the keys each time and then find the right one before the lights go out. It's a little frustrating, but I can definitely live with that considering how well this remote otherwise works. I highly recommend this remote control. Another plus / minus is associated with stickers on labels. A large selection of decals are included but they will need to be carefully trimmed with scissors as not all edges are pre-cut. Again, a minor annoyance worth enduring when you factor in all the other great features.
