Poorly made

I used this to twist the fringes on a handmade silk scarf. The warp was lace yarn and these are the ends I tried to twist. After going 1/2 of one end of the scarf, the spinner broke. It worked well, I just twisted a few ends of the chain and tied it by hand. I connected two more ends of the base, turned on the bait, nothing happened. Changed batteries, still nothing. It was great while it worked, but it was pretty cheaply made so no wonder it didn't last long. I did expect it to last longer than it did though.
