Check out my before and after pictures of my Supra. Then keep looking and you will see that one of the photos is not my Supra. This is my Lexus ISF and Supra in Lexus reflection. You can get the MIRROR FINISH by doing the following. Buy a good 6-inch dual-action polish (available from Harbor Freight or Revain) and a few large packs of GOOD Revain microfiber towels. Buy Meguiar's M205 and DMC6. Buy Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light. Buy Groits Panel napkins. Buy Optimum No Rinse Wash. a car wash that uses contact. Now touchless washes are ok! It's debatable if you don't have a GOOD ceramic coating! I NEVER have to wash my cars. Maybe I do a hand wash once every 3 months. There's always a surface smeared with grease (not just water!) when you touch it! Start with a lot of patience. Use Optimum without rinsing and follow car wash instructions. This is how you should do it from the start! If you feel like there's a ton of wax, etc., make a decontamination remover for Groits, or similar Chemical Guys, etc. Get the color SURGICAL CLEANING. This is the main thing to make everything else work! After you've removed all the dirt from the paint, it's time to fix it. You MUST do this with infinitely diffused LED lighting or you will have trouble spotting bugs. Get the DA polisher, DMC6 pad and M205. Put everything together. The first step is to fill the pad with DMC. Spin it slowly, hit the 205 nozzle on the pad and stop it. Then use your fingers or rubber gloves to apply the product to the pad. Then it's time to apply a small stripe to the paintpad. On my Harbor Freight DA I use level 3-5 depending on the work that needs to be done. Usually start small and work your way up. Use a straight back and forth motion and then an up and down motion with moderate to heavy pressure depending on the degree of defects. Try not to let the product dry while you work, but this is normal when you are actively working on the panel. To remove the product, use a slightly damp MF Optimum No Rinse+water cloth, wipe gently and dry the panel with another MF cloth. - a brief excerpt about the use of MF towels - do not "tie" towels. Always use them with a folded painting cloth and a folded painting cloth. Always keep the MF towel thick to prevent your hand from accidentally transferring its shape into a hologram on your beautiful door. Always use perfectly clean towels! -back to tutorial 205- Just don't let it sit long after you've worked with the panel, you want to see how you did it after all! Continue the same panel again, but with medium to light pressure. It's almost like grinding paint, but on a microscopic level. So heavy scratches fix heavy defects and then you have to clean medium and light scratches to remove those heavier scratches until you can't see them anymore. Continue this for a panel. If your color is intact you can make two panels. But the DMC liner (and all others) accumulate patched paint residue that needs to be removed. So you want maybe 4 of them to build a car. One for each section is how I do it. I use one for each end of the car, front (hood, bumper and fenders), one for one side, one for the other side and one for the rear work. If you are working with a pad and notice new swirl marks. It's your notebook, full of remnants of the old clear coat. Using warm, soapy water and Dawn dish soap, gently massage in the residue and all of the soap until there is no suds. This is also paramount, and you'll likely screw up identification if you try to force the pad to work too hard on the surface. It fills up and you add swirls (no big deal! Just annoying, but it's part of the learning process). So change your last often, and especially when putting on a new last, be sure to coat it with product and then add the amount you will use to set the color. After wiping the whole car: you need to do it again but with a polishing sponge. I actually use Harbor Freight Polishing Foam Pads lol works great. Broke after 1 car. It cannot be reused. But it's cheap. Use M205 + water mist spray on the pad for extra lubrication. Apply medium and then light pressure in the same left to right top to bottom pattern as before. Apply the same product removal technique and properly dilute Optimum No Rinse on the MF Cloth and MF Cloth to dry the plate. Then follow Gtechniq's instructions for applying Crystal Serum Light. Remember: don't let it dry and don't think it's wax. They just glide over the surface to remove excess material. Follow the CSL instructions. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. Part of these guidelines is to reuse the cloth to remove any residue from the polishing process. Youtube Gtechnique and AMMONYC. They have a very durable finish that keeps the paint from getting dirty in the first place and makes cleaning incredibly easy. Always use lubricant and watch out for dirt on the MF cloth! Your color will look like this for years. Update 11/2019: nothing new ;)
