Using two docks for Macbook Pro 16 "

I bought two separate docks for use with the 16" MBP (2019), one for the home and one for the office. I was looking for a docking station with built-in networking, USB ports (for an external mouse), high-resolution DisplayPort support at 60Hz, and could power my Macbook Pro. There are many unnamed brands that sell compatible Revain docks, but the seemingly rave reviews turned out to be mostly fake when I used a third-party site to verify the validity of the reviews. I literally spent hours trying to find the 'perfect dock'. While the CalDigit dock wasn't cheap, it turned out to be the best combination of features and price, so I bought two (one for the home and one for the office). started showing very strange behavior. My internet went down, internal network connections went down and everything crashed. After many, many hours of troubleshooting (even buying new managed network hardware and using Wireshark to inspect network traffic) I determined through a process of elimination that the CalDigit dock was the cause of the problems. I don't have much experience working with technical support groups. , I was inclined to just send the units back to Revane and cut my losses. However, I was a little heartbroken because, on paper, it really was the best dock for my needs. I've decided to support CalDigit and I'm glad I did. It was a pleasure to call the number and have someone on the line straight away who was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. It turns out that while this is incredibly rare (I was only the second person to report it), the network issue is KNOWN and there was a fix. The fix involved getting a driver installer from CalDigit that replaces the Apple network adapter driver. . Initially I had some problems with the installation (it turned out I had to disable Apple's Enhanced Security feature; see the driver's readme for more information), but after installing the driver my network problems were actually resolved. While the process was admittedly painful, I think CalDigit created great hardware and was also very helpful, responsive, and patient in fixing the issue. Looking through the reviews, it seems like others are having issues with the latest MacBook Pros and this dock (particularly in regards to display issues), although I'm grateful that CalDigit supports their products. I would encourage you to try this dock and if you encounter any problems, please feel free to contact CalDigit support.
