I'd say it's even better as it has full Alexa integration without the legacy hub and app to control the lights from the home. I've found that some people have trouble with the initial light sync. It needs to be synced with software app first and then with Alexa via smart life skill and app. When installing multiple lamps in one lamp, be sure to install them at the same time. So you want to install a lightbulb and start the pairing process and once connected remove the lightbulb. Repeat the process with the second bulb you want to sync. If you use multiple lamps at the same time, you will encounter various problems. I think that almost all the lamps are from the same manufacturer but are just renamed or have slight design changes. That's good, because while you might need two apps for initial syncing, the Smart Link app and capabilities let you control any lightbulb, regardless of manufacturer. Just make sure they're of the same type, which means they're all Wi-Fi compatible with Alexa.
