Fresh air in the filters

This item is on the top shelf. And it fits right into the designated slot on the Cadillac XTS. However, the instructions on YouTube exaggerate the ease of installation. Lowering the glove box door is very easy and literally opens when you pull in on the latches found on each side of the door. Remove the tension wire and let it gently pull back. It needs to remain visible enough that you can take it out to reinstall, but don't let it fly or it could pull back too much and disappear in the spool forever. If you're nervous, put something in the loop to keep it from pulling in too tightly. Yes, there are three screws on the panel holding the CD player that need to be removed. But you still need a very energetic breakthrough. When I took it out, I found that there are five pressure clamps on the back that also need to be released. You will if you pull hard. It's a solid record - don't be afraid to give it a good tug to release the clips on the back. And the pressure lock that secures the wire that gets in the way when you remove it is also very tight. Use the tool if you have one. And don't completely reinstall it - after all, you'll want to change that filter regularly the first time. And yes, my car definitely smells fresh. Sure, my filter is a few years old, but I can tell a difference. Oh, one more touch. The door covering the front of the filter box has brackets on each side. I nudged it and tried to squeeze it like I do with electrical clamps, but it wouldn't disengage. Eventually I found out that to open the door you have to reach back and remove the clip from the hook. Grab and lift, don't push or push. LOL Doesn't appear on its own. You lift the clamp, which acts like a latch, to release it. Find out. Overall, now that I've done this, I'd rate it as moderately easy and I'll be able to redo it in 10 minutes or less. One last tip, if you find larger objects like leaves and nuts etc. sitting on top of the old filter when you remove it, they can be swept away by the filter and fall into the fan below. Don't despair - the fan blade completely blocks further falling objects. Use your fingers to find the fan blade (by touch), slowly rotate it and just remove anything that fell there. Of course, do not turn on the fan while your fingers are within reach of the fan blades. To be on the safe side, leave the key fob at home. Or if you're nervous, disconnect the battery.
