Review on ANLI DC-124H TriBand NMO Mobile Ham Radio Antenna- 2M/222/440Mhz for Enhanced Performance by Ron Thomas

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Very good on 70cm and 1.25m Sufficient for VHF

I wanted something for mobile use with my Kenwood TH-F6A tri band radio so I gave it a try. It showed perfect SWR on the 440MHz band (70cm), although not in the 432 part, out of the box. I was able to reach UHF repeaters further away than with a 1/4 wave pin and with a slightly better signal. better than 1/4 shaft pin. However, two meters (144 MHz) were not so good. The SWR was acceptable at 1.3 but there was no difference in signal or range reporting compared to the 1/4 wave pen. * Groups. I spent about 45 minutes making very minor changes, none of which improved the situation over the out of the box situation. Also, the antenna I received was non-foldable and non-black. The picture and description have changed since I placed my order. This antenna works well for me because I need better UHF and 1.25m "range" than 2m. Most of the 2m repeaters I use frequently are pretty easy to get to even with a 1/4 wave whip. If I had to travel to the country, I would use a two meter antenna. But for everyday use in Minneapolis/St. In the Paul subway area, this three lane Anli group does everything I need. It's a bit big but light enough not to put too much strain on my trunk lip bracket. There aren't many options for "boosting" 222MHz antennas, but it's very good for this band. EDIT: After two months I noticed a pattern in the signal reports saying strong "picket fence" and "flapping". I have replaced this antenna with a Comet 224NMO and am now using Anli as an internal base station antenna on a steel floor. It works well, although two meters is still not the strength of the antenna. The comet is very similar, but lacks the circular "zeal" and has very few "picket fences."
