Our granddaughter loves to play with Hot Wheels. We kept her mum's collection when she was little so she has plenty to choose from. I bought a caterpillar with slingshot launchers, but it's too young to understand how the mechanism works. This dual ramp seemed like a good option as it has a simpler trigger mechanism. In fact, she was able to get it working right away. However, there are a few major design flaws with this set. First, the checkered flag mechanism below slows or stops cars, so it's not possible to use the connectors below to add more tracks. This can be fixed by removing the flag and tab mechanisms (remove screws, disassemble, replace the blue piece) and simply use the blue bow as a decoration to add some stiffness to a fairly flimsy system. The second problem is the rear ramp. In one of the photos, this ramp stands motionless at the top, although there's nothing there to hold it up. I'm thinking of removing that as well or adding some props to hold it in place. A slight design change would make this possible. Third, the elevator in the garage is too high to drive a car on it. It is left to the child's imagination. Despite all these shortcomings, our granddaughter has a lot of fun. I found out we're not the only ones having these issues after watching some YouTube videos of this set. I definitely understood that I should watch the video before buying, not after. There's a lot to choose from, so I don't recommend any particular one.
