While I love this glowing ribbon, it's not perfect. The dimmer buzzes and doesn't really work right out of the box. You need to connect the power line to the light bar. For this I used good old wire nuts. The light emitted is quite bright, although I have no way of measuring lumens. I'm guessing its brightness is about the same as two 24 watt fluorescent lights (connected in four side-by-side strips for overhead work lighting in a carpentry shop). According to my wattmeter, it only draws about 45 watts at 120 volts. Please see what other reviews say about the adhesive on this product. That does not work. My advice is to use heat resistant glue. For my application I used a strong general purpose wood glue to glue the strip to the plywood. So far this has worked quite well, except for the start of the light bar. That's where it gets heated the most, and that's where the glue began to peel off. Overall, despite its shortcomings, I already have plans to purchase at least a few more of these light strips to provide more work and general lighting in the basement.
