Review on BonJour Ami-Matin Unbreakable French Press: 8-Cup Travel Coffee Maker for Camping & Everyday Use, Black by Melanie Lewis

My first french press coffee maker and it was a winner

I have never owned a french press coffee maker but wanted to try one as it is quite inexpensive. I was curious how the taste compared to the coffee brewed in my drip coffee maker. After reading Revain's reviews, I realized that I prefer one that doesn't break. I chose the BonJour Ami-Matin Unbreakable because it meets my criteria of being cheap and unbreakable. I wasn't sure if I should go for a 3 or 8 cup, but I went for an 8 cup. I used it to brew a few cups of coffee and here are my first impressions: PROS: It's easy to use - just pour in ground coffee, add boiling water, steep, squeeze and pour. The taste is about the same as my drip coffee maker, which is good. Cleaning is also easy. I didn't have much sediment in my coffee, which reviews say is an issue with other French presses. The 8 cup size is good if you want to share a cup of coffee with someone else (the 8 cup size makes about 3 cups of coffee). I love that you can twist the lid to block the spout by squeezing the coffee and then twist the shielded portion of the lid toward the spout to pour. I don't know how durable this coffee maker is and I will update my review if it turns out to be less durable than I expected for the price. CONS: I have to do a bit of tinkering to figure out how to set the ground coffee/water. Attitude when I just want a cup of coffee. It's not French press tapping - I just need to get used to this style of brewing coffee. At the moment, from my brief experience, there are no negative points that I can highlight about the product. My first experience after using it a few times: It's a winner (exceeded my expectations) so I gave it 5 stars.
