These bits are large. I use them in a bench drill for circuit boards. I've used standard wire drill bits with success, but have had a lot of roll and break because my drill press wasn't holding the drill bits vertically enough. These drills have a good shank that keeps the drill perpendicular to the board and I actually drill my boards much faster and more accurately. I've drilled about five boards, each with about a hundred holes, with no problems.
