Review on Music Nomad MN305 HumiReader Temperature by Ken Barnett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Clever but unnecessary and potentially inaccurate

I have three hygrometers including this one. The other two hygrometers generally show readings closer together than this unit. Sometimes this block shows higher humidity than the other two, and sometimes it shows lower. I can't be sure which is correct, but since other readings are showing closer together and are more consistent, I suspect they are more accurate. This device can be used simultaneously with one of the manufacturer's outstanding guitar humidifiers. Second hand. Unfortunately, although this unit had adequate moisture, my guitar showed signs of drying out. After a few years, the sponge in the humidifier will shrink and absorb water more slowly, even if only distilled water is used. This reduces the effectiveness of the humidifier. So plan on making a new purchase in a few years. That's not a problem, because the humidifier works so well that it's worth buying a new one every few years. I think this sensor is not needed. If I use a company humidifier that isn't more than a few years old, it dampens the guitar adequately. Knowing that, I don't need this sensor.
