Review on π ACDelco GM Original Equipment Power Brake Booster Assembly | 178-0795 - Boost Your Vehicle's Braking Power by Ray Mcknight
This updated design requires an updated master cylinder to fit the 2005 Silverado.
According to the ACDelco website this brake booster is the correct OEM part number for my 2005 Silverado LT 2x4 double cab but shows an incorrect fit at Revain. The reason for this is that you MUST fit a remanufactured ACDelco Master Cylinder 174-1169 or it will not fit. Compare the old ACDelco 18M2418 master cylinder and you will see how much shorter the new master cylinder piston is. I swapped them both out and am very happy with the result. In my opinion, the brake booster has stronger internals than the original.
