Our hair dryer (new for 2 years) did not dry well and gave an airflow error. So before we called in the experts, we decided to give this vent cleaner a try. Our dryer is in the front room on the second floor, and the vent "conveniently" goes to the back of our house, meaning the ventilation goes around the bathroom and bedroom. We needed something that was flexible yet strong enough to maneuver around corners AND be about 25 feet long. I bought 2 kits and although it took quite a while (about 2 hours for the whole project) the results were stunning. The attached photo is the result of our efforts - it is clear that we had jam there. I think the rods (at least for the twists and turns of our house) are used once because they bent badly and lost shape afterwards. I'll get them back next year though if we make it an annual clean the vent. I think if we hadn't had such a blockage, they would have handled it better.
