I sanded it originally which was great. Plants thrived for the most part (this was the first time I've fully planted my aquarium, so a meltdown was to be expected, and it did). But then I had to take my tank to a college dorm and it was dirty for days. Thank goodness I had a spare bowl for my rooster, otherwise he would have literally thought he was in a goddamn swamp. After everything settled I added more sand and now everything is fine except for a small amount of sediment that still seems to be settling onto the sand. Easy enough to clean with a gravel cleaner, but still. Be careful. Also, it's such a small bag for the price, but I really like it.
