Yes, it really works

I've been researching refillable capsules for a long time and finally decided to try them. My main questions were 1) would they be phased out; and 2) whether I have to use paper filters, which (for me) defeats a lot of purposes and would be a hassle. I am happy to report that after two weeks I can say with confidence that it was worth the money. (Also I use a scoop and it works well as it measures a good amount and prevents it from spilling). I do NOT get ANY grounds in my coffee and it doesn't spill. Basically, I just make sure that no coffee grounds get on the rim of the cup, because that can mess up the seal. I've been using K-Cups for about ten years now and have no intention of going back. I really enjoy the freedom to buy any coffee I want and I'm glad it doesn't end up in landfills like it used to. In terms of cleaning, I think it takes a few seconds longer than tossing the K-Cup in the trash, but basically I take out the used pod, bang it against the inside of the trash can two or three times, and put it down then run them under the tap to wash away any remaining coffee grounds. I can tell you that if you're making coffee in a row, you might want to have one for each person making coffee. It is easier to clean when the capsule has cooled down. Also, I had a leak ONCE trying to use it and then immediately used it again. It MAYBE because I didn't pack it properly or had some bases on the lip. I happened about a week ago and only happened once. These are really reliable. The leak happened once and never again. I washed this pod, used another pod and everything was fine. And when I switched back, pod #1 was working fine again. I think that's exactly what I did. I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • A few bugs
