I absolutely LOVE my Kuhn Rikon garlic press so buying a straw peeler was a no brainer for me. Buy their peeler. And so I bought one about a year ago and used it happily with no problems. I was recently offered a review copy of the Pridebit Julienne Cleaner. There are a number of cleaners like Pridebit that look the same (just find a straw cleaner and check out all the clones). Having used both now there doesn't seem to be much of a difference and therefore no real reason to pay more for a Kuhn Rikon peeler. In fact, the beauty of other "regular" peelers is that the blade sits closer to the tip, making it easier to peel larger vegetables. The blade of the Kuhn-Rikon peeler is inserted approximately 3 mm from the top. The attached photo shows the difference. However, after a year of use, my Kuhn Rikon blade is still quite sharp. Hard to say if any other knife will hold up. I'll update my review of these two products if I notice a difference, but right now I don't think it's worth paying more for this device.
