Basically great. on Kitchen Utensils & Gadgets

.I have a complaint and that's why I'm deducting a star. A straight knife removes a lot more "skin" than we like. This is a common complaint I've had about peelers in the past. I don't like wasting food, and when I'm peeling carrots, for example, I sometimes feel like I'm running out of real food with a straight blade peeler. It's not outrageous, but the chips that come off are too thick. However, other vegetable peelers perform better. I'm not quite used to a julienne knife yet, but I won't blame the product for my inexperience. I have tried several times to cut julienne from different vegetables and have managed to improve my technique and results with each new attempt. The product clearly works and with practice on my part I believe it will be perfect for its purpose. The textured cleanser is my favorite of the set; I've used it to chop small veggies and the results are not only tasty but also aesthetically pleasing. One of my favorite uses for this is to make boiled and then fried potatoes. Using a textured peeler gives extra surface area, allowing more of the salt and spice mixture to stick to the surface of the potato, adding extra flavor. All in all this is a good set. Just think of these two things: 1. A straight blade knife will peel off some fairly thick hides. Of course it can be used for that, but if you just try to skin something, you'll find that it's too much. 2. If you're inexperienced like me, you may need to practice with a straw knife.

Pros
  • THREE TYPES OF KNIVES: The set includes a straight blade, a serrated blade and a straw blade
Cons
  • So far so good
