This is a great tarp holder wherever you go thanks to its light weight and carrying case making it very portable. My second use for this was to create a totem for a festival as it is lightweight and expandable. This is the perfect length for it and also doubles the length from 3 to 7 feet. You adjust the length by turning the knob to lock it in place. The rubber cap ensures that your tarpaulin does not tear, which for me is the biggest difference to using this pole, besides the weight. Overall I like my rod but just wish it was a little cheaper
