Review on ๐Ÿ” Enhanced Gasoline Engine Compression Tester Kit OTC 5605 with Portable Carrying Case by Lloyd Edwards

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Tell our engine to open and say "Ahhh ".

. I will not claim in my review that I am not a professional mechanic. Well, they bought me dinner once after I fixed a friend's car, so it's kind of a payment. However, I'm not sure if that makes me a professional mechanic. I bought this kit to work on a friend's car (another friend, I have at least 4 of these) who had a suspected head gasket problem. I've always wanted a compression tester and this was the perfect reason to buy one. I have other over the counter tools and they have really impressed me. Along with other positive reviews about Revain, I bought this kit without hesitation. OTC has another compression test kit (OTC 5606 Compression Tester Kit) that has fewer hoses but is only $10 cheaper, so I splurged and bought this deluxe model. works on almost every engine. It even comes with a small spares bag with extra valves and o-rings, which I thought was a pretty nice touch. The kit seems solid and well made and has a nice case to keep all the pieces together. The gauge is covered in a rubber mold to protect it from bumps and knocks during use and it's fairly accurate. For what it's worth I built a jig to compare the OTC gauge to the gauge on my air tank and they measured the same at 100psi. At least now I know that OTC sensors measure the same as the cheap sensor on my air tank. For me, buying this kit was like a rite of passage. My toolbox is full of all kinds of wrenches, sockets, ratchets, dodgy things, etc., but this is my first real troubleshooting tool. You know, the kind of stuff that most people aren't going to have in their garage. I'm slightly dizzy. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to a friend - or, in this case on Revain, I would recommend it to complete strangers.
