Review on πŸ’¨ SATA Chassis Fan Hub: Efficient 8-Way Cooling Splitter Controller for PC Desktop Motherboards (12V 3-Pin PWM) by Tropingzz Cece

Incorrectly connected. - Internal components

I had the same problem with two of them where the system wouldn't turn on in sleep mode. I thought the first one just had problems, but when the replacement did the same, I checked the wiring. I have found that the unit is fine in high power mode as the 12v power is on pin 2 of the fan which is power and ground is connected to pin 1 which is ground. However, when going into sleep mode, 12V is applied to pin 2, leaving 12V but changing pin 1 from fan to 5V instead of ground. I tested this using an EVGA power supply with known working and properly connected SATA power connectors. This switch/hub is simply wired incorrectly and if your power supply is not protected from such a problem, you could burn out your power supply and make it a very heavy paperweight.

Pros
  • βœͺ EASY INSTALLATION: Very easy to set up. Connect the RGB elements to the hub, connect the included cable to any pin on the hub, then connect the other end to any RGB connector on the motherboard, and finally connect the SATA cable from the power supply to the Hub on to deliver power.
