Review on University Book Shop Otago by Jackie Stewart

UBSO have the largest range of books in New Zealand

Have you always liked to read books? Have you always wished your academic success could be assured by the knowledge that you have gained from the books that you read? I used to think that I was not really capable of reading any text book because I found it much denser than fiction. There were also days when my mind wasn't at its best and made me forget about what I had just read or learnt. For this reason, I thought I would never ever make good grades in school even though I knew all about my subjects.

I ended up making use of small tricks which enabled me to make sense of things much easier for me whenever there is a need to learn something new or review for tests or exams. One way is by drawing concepts during lectures or making notes in my own words. The other way is through using technology, which I discovered when I was a second-year university student. Online book shops such as University Book Shop Otago have been a great help to me and my classmates whenever there is an urgent need for referencing materials for our assignments or thesis papers.

The online shop offers a wide variety of textbooks that cater for different subject areas, as well as course books and supplementary texts. You are able to search for the required textbook by title, author, ISBN or keyword. It also has a facility where you can order a book if it is not available in stock and have it delivered to your campus or home address. You also choose from the option of having the book delivered on a specific date.

The advantage of choosing an online bookshop like University Book Shop Otago is that you get to avoid having to carry heavy textbooks as well as not ending up with books which you will not use or those which may be too advanced for the course that you are taking. Sometimes, it can be really frustrating when your lecturers allow students to buy their own textbooks and then find out that your classmates have purchased texts that cover more than what is required for the whole term. This also saves time and energy whenever you need to look for a particular textbook in case there would be no available copies at the campus library.

Another thing which I love about the website is that it features reviews of each book written by former students, allowing prospective users to get a glimpse of what they can expect from the book in question. This is great for students like me who tend to be sceptical about buying textbooks. Usually, we only rely on popular and tested titles and this website serves as a good reference especially when there are no reviews in your university library catalogue.

It also has an option where you can sell back the books that you have finished using or those which you think won't be put into use again in the future. The site offers incentives such as good prices for such items when it comes to purchasing new ones. Such allows for better changes at saving money when shopping online compared to other bookstores which do not offer such options.
