Mounted mine in the ground 20 inches, with concrete around the posts, as per the directions. I let the concrete set fully before putting the gate on, but found that the metal gate is so heavy it caused sagging of the hinge post towards the other post. Fortunately the hinge post was right beside an outbuilding, so I used two metal tie plates to the building to help hold it in place, but might be an issue if out in a yard away from an independent secondary support. Perhaps could buy an extra post, since they are sold separately, and bury them together, with a couple tie plates holding them together so they both carry the gate weight. OR the company could just make the gate posts thicker and heavier than the fence posts.
