Review on πŸ”¨ Nordstrand Flattening Stone: A Game-Changer for Re-Leveling Waterstones by Gary Newman

I've used better hand tools

Overall, this is a fairly expensive silicon carbide whetstone. The speed didn't impress me either. You can surely find a cheaper one here on the site that will get the job just as efficiently. If you are determined to use this I would suggest buying some loose silicon carbide sand (or stone tumble sand) as it will make leveling much faster. It is also noteworthy that I have posted this review before, but this Amazon continues to selectively refuse to publish it. This is remarkable for several reasons. When I bought this stone I did it through the phone app and specifically searched for Norton Melting Stone. The first result was sponsored and it was this one. It seems a bit misleading to me, but still. I don't want to see Amazon selectively refusing to post negative reviews of products that are paid for advertising, and I suppose the FCC doesn't want to see that either. So I emailed them about this whole incident. In any case, the price is once again too high / seems too long.

Pros
  • Precision tool for planing, leveling and resharpening stone surfaces
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
