So that I can go outside in my old shoes after the operation. It is COMFORTABLE and comfortable to wear. I put on my old shoes, at least the ones with laces, so I saved a fortune. I can walk MUCH easier than with the hospital provided AFO. IF you have a floppy foot AND have a lot of flat shoes with laces, I recommend you try it. This works great for me. I weigh 185 pounds and am 5 feet 9 inches tall. It suits me perfectly.
